PERMANENT STAFF
Artistic Director
Charles Linehan
ARTISTIC POLICY
Charles Linehan’s choreographic vision is one of understated intensity, achieved through the marriage of movement, light and music and informed by an economy of means. His work speaks of the quality and nature of human interaction; detailed and intimate, it can be described as miniaturist. He values craft and originality and his performers are vital contributors to the creation and performance of the work with their individual human qualities and technical excellence brought equally into play.
REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘There is a seductiveness in Linehan's confident choreographic voice that satisfies the rational senses and beguiles the irrational.’ The Irish Times
‘As Linehan has proved for over a decade now, the best things often come in the least hyped packages.’ The Observer
‘Impressive, intelligent, thought-provoking choreography… Charles Linehan’s subtle atmospheric dances thrive on implication, on the elusive emotional undercurrents of human interaction.’ Time Out
CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
A duet accompanied by live music from Belgradeyard SoundSystem, using double bass and samples. Processes of reduction and expansion, the distilled and the magnified, lie at the heart of this new work and are played out in the relationship between performers, lighting and music. (25 mins, 6 on the road.)
A new work for three men and one woman that seeks to explore the territory between unity and difference, where the two exist in tension with each other, such that they that act like fault planes. (25 mins, 7 on the road.)
(untitled) A new work with live music created in collaboration with composer Richard Skelton (aka Harlassen). Conceived for performance in large yet intimate non-theatre spaces. The cast of 10 features an equal number of dancers and musicians. (50 mins, 12 on the road.)
