REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘Together the two pieces present a truly outstanding evening: emotionally uplifting and visually and intellectually gratifying.’ The Stage (Double Bill: )
‘Charnock’s frenzied, funny, organised madness… [gives] these seven exceptional dancers a huge canvas on which to let rip their expressive brilliance.’ Ballet.co.uk (Double Bill: )
‘Everywhere you look there's energy and personality, fierce and wonderfully accomplished technique – everything you'd reckon on finding in a top-notch company.’ The Herald (Double Bill: )
CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
With composer Scott Walker setting the scene for a sinister and primal ball, Rafael Bonachela’s choreography cuts through the space, pushing the dancers into extreme connections, entangled in each others bodies, throwing their partners into flight, only to catch and grab and throw again and again and again. (30 mins.)
DV8 founding member and dance maverick Nigel Charnock kidnaps dancers and audience alike into a world of love, lust, addictions and obsessions. (45 mins.)
FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
Award-winning choreographer Emanuel Gat delights with his attention to detail to create beautiful, fluid movement, resulting in rich and rewarding choreography with intricate articulation. (30 mins; total running time as part of Renditions triple bill 80 mins including interval.)
New Work (title tbc) Acclaimed dance and theatre artist Wendy Houstoun combines movement with text and meaning with humour to create work that challenges preconceptions about movement. (20 mins; total running time as part of Renditions 80 mins including interval.)
New Work (title tbc) Curator of seminal The Kitchen, Manchester born New Yorker Sarah Michelson is known across the Atlantic for her quirky take on our time, resulting in an unprecedented two consecutive New York ‘Bessie’ Dance Awards. (30 mins; total running time as part of Renditions 80 mins including interval.)
