ARTISTIC POLICY
A2 creates experimental performance and installation projects, exploring new personal, social and emotional language forms, which aim to interrogate and reflect the human experience. A defining feature of the company’s practice, in both its process and performance work, is to create participatory opportunities, represent and engage people from different ages, cultures and backgrounds. The creative process upon which A2 engages is never less important than the final work and is often integrated in the form itself.
REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘Mirto and Kreiz expose themselves as generous artists with a special gift. Their bruised, resonant show is a small treasure.’ The Times ()
‘A2’s ideas are strong, their stage poetry even stronger: very like a chance meeting of TS Eliot and Agnes Varda.’ The Telegraph ()
‘A work in progress of uncommon and categorisable intelligence... their performances are, in effect, a kind of living gift.’ Dance Europe ()
CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
An interrogative performance installation. 40 diverse people gradually bury each other under earth, following 10-day A2 workshops, exploring the inter-relationship between living and dying. (50 mins, can contain nudity, contains recorded text, 40 on stage (recruited on site), 3–4 on the road.)
A performance installation exploring notions of identity, manipulation and choice. Masked in black tights, stretched into the rigging, two faceless bodies move in silence to an invisible set of instructions. (15 mins, 2 on stage, 5 on the road, contains nudity and recorded text.)
A live performance, exploring evolutionary details, in a world calling to be noticed beyond the state in which it is currently seen, treated and controlled. A small child involved. (30 mins, to be developed to 50 mins, 4 on stage, 10 on the road.)
FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
A performance installation exploring notions of identity, manipulation and choice. Masked in black tights, stretched into the rigging, up to 12 faceless bodies, move in silence to invisible set of instructions. (45 mins, contains nudity, 12 on stage (recruited on site), 3 on the road.)
A performance sound installation. From CD players, whispered apologies are heard, of too many things A2 would like apologise for. Updated with time, place, people involved. (45 mins, 2 on stage, 5 on the road.)
