ARTISTIC POLICY
h2dance (formed in 1999) presents the joint choreography and direction of artistic directors Hanna Gillgren (Sweden) and Heidi Rustgaard (Norway). Their work addresses political and gender issues with humour and irony to create dynamic and thought-provoking performance work. h2dance borrows its aesthetic from popular culture and combines movement with text, song and video, which directly communicates with an audience.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘An audacious piece of dance theatre from a patently talented company keen to engage with the times in which we live.’ Time Out ()

‘A determinedly defiant and forceful piece of 21st century dance theatre that follows in the footsteps of Pina Bausch.’ The Guardian ()

‘A persuasive and dangerous work whose sprawling energy never lets up… undeniably powerful.’ Daily Express ()

CURRENT PRODUCTION
The darkly humorous is part performance, part social experiment, featuring four dancers stripped down to their psychological essentials in a gladiatorial battle to define winners and losers. (50 mins, no interval, 5 on stage, 6 on the road, contains nudity.)

FUTURE PRODUCTION
Involves an originally written, contemporary choral score and choreography. The performance investigates how movement affects the perception of sound and challenges notions of freedom of speech. (50 mins, no interval, a promenade performance where the audience is part of the choreography, performed by a community choir of 20 to 30 singers local to each venue, 3 artists on the road.)

WRAP-AROUND
h2dance provides education workshops for teenagers, adults and professionals. Workshop menu includes movement work in combination with voice and singing and can be geared towards any level, amateurs as well as professionals, dancers, singers and actors. The company is also keen to hold post-performance discussions.
