ARTISTIC POLICY
Dog Kennel Hill Project is a collective of dance artists, Henrietta Hale, Ben Ash, and Rachel Lopez de la Nieta. In collaboration with invited artists, musicians and performers, their work draws from a broad and eclectic range of subjects and skills. Thoughtful questions combine with absurd play and a precise physicality to create dance that surprises and intrigues. Their current investigation is into adapting and creating work in response to unconventional performance venues and sites.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘Their style is very easy and pleasing, swooping and graceful, laidback yet intricate… delightful to watch and listen to.’ Lindsey Clarke, londondance.com ()

‘This was amusing, with committed, amusing performances. Baffling, but watchable.’ Londondance.com ()

‘Hale showed her talent for exposing the comedy and poignancy of the most simple gesture.’ Sophie Hansen, Resolution Review ()

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
In a makeshift Foley studio, four dancers tell and retell mythical stories: movement, live sound, music, and text are woven together to create mysterious shifting perspectives and intriguing scenarios. (45 mins, no interval, 4 on stage, 2 crew.)

A solo by Henrietta Hale exploring the need to go beyond herself, and how to survive the unknown, developed through a series of intimate performance/dialogue situations that examined risk and creativity. (30 mins, 1 on stage, 1 crew, no interval.)

FUTURE PRODUCTION
An enquiry into the successes and failings of the work ethic. Adapted and performed in sites usually considered work places, it directly engages with the work community that surrounds it. (3 performers, 1 crew, duration variable.)

WRAP-AROUND
Post-performance discussions – usually chaired by a host organisation, these events unravel the ideas, processes and collaborative method that make up, and emerge from the work.

2–3 hour workshop/masterclasses – can be adapted for schools age 15+ or professionals. Based on The Odd Honesty Code, or People Working these give an experiential insight into some for the company’s working processes, how material is created collaboratively and in response to site and environment.

Workshops can involve a mixture of taught material, improvisation structures and creative tasks.

Longer residencies – We are particularly interested in delivering residences for groups that involve working through a creative process for a period (ie one week) with the option of leading to a performance opportunity. These can be for dance/performance specific groups but we are also interested in working with groups of young people and adults with no or little experience.
