ensemblebash (percussion quartet) has become famous for its theatrical and visually arresting presentation of contemporary, jazz and West African percussion music. Through the varied backgrounds of its members and its association with the Pan African Orchestra and the National Dance Company of Ghana, it has redefined the idea of modern music from a cerebral, sterile event to a dynamic and stimulating show.

The group takes the same engaging approach to education work. The World Tour concert takes children around the world of percussion and includes a teacher’s pack for follow-up work. Frequent residencies and hands-on workshops have conveyed the immediacy and physicality of percussion to countless numbers of people. Ensemble Bash are regular course tutors at Dartington International Summer School and have experience of physical and educational special needs. It is also the Ensemble-in-Residence with Chance for Children Trust, working with emotionally and socially disadvantaged children.

Workshops require no prior knowledge but give everyone the chance to play both standard and unusual instruments, featuring drums, as well as orchestral, pop, Latin and West African percussion.
