APPLEDORE BOOK FESTIVAL

The Appledore Book Festival takes place over nine days in the fishing village of Appledore North Devon with over 5000 visitors expected. The festival remit to spread a love of reading and learning with innovative events and raise money for the Appledore Library and reading projects for disadvantaged children. The 2008 line-up included Jacqueline Wilson, Libby Purves, Tony Benn, Roy Hattersley, Penny Vincenzi and Peregrine Worsthorne. 2009 will feature over 60 events presented by some of Britain's best-known and best-loved authors.

Still the UK's only festival dedicated entirely to the short story, Small Wonder is now in its fifth year. 2008 sees the welcome return of William Trevor and Ali Smith, along side Lionel Shriver, Penelope Lively, Anne Enright, John Cooper Clarke, Alan Holinghurst, Gerald Scarfe, Francis Wyndham and many more of our most celebrated contemporary writers in an array of thought-provoking talks and debates. There is also the two-day creative writing workshop led by Sophia Hannah and Toby Litt. It all takes place in the inspiring grounds of Charleston, the rural Sussex retreat of the Bloomsbury group.

TENBY ARTS FESTIVAL
