THE SUNDAY TIMES OXFORD LITERARY FESTIVAL
Christ Church
29 March-5 April 2009

Over 350 writers descended on Christ Church to talk, debate, and discuss ideas at the 2008 festival. And 2009 promises many more, including Peru’s foremost and most distinguished writer, Mario Vargas Llosa, The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, and eminent historian David Starkey.

BAY LIT FESTIVAL (BIENNIAL)

Biennial, bilingual, (Welsh and English) multicultural celebration of Welsh literature. Organised by the Welsh Academi. The 2005 programme featured Howard Marks amongst other writers.

BRIGHTON CHILDREN'S BOOK FESTIVAL
April 2009

Aimed at young people and adults, the Brighton Children's Book Festival celebrates the way children's books leap from the page into film, theatre, radio, TV, digital media and much more.

CAMBRIDGEWORDFEST
24 - 26 April 2009

An annual literature festival held in the spring in Cambridge and surrounding area. It aims to provide a richly packed weekend of some of the best in contemporary fiction, political debate, workshops and events for children. It is a festival for writers as well as readers.Authors who have attended in the past include: Carol Ann Duffy, Lionel Shriver, Andrew Cowan, Kathryn Hughes, Helen Dunmore, Geraldine McCaughrean, Sandi Toksvig and Marina Lewcka.

LEIGH & WIGAN WORDS TOGETHER LITERARY FESTIVAL

An annual literary festival consisting of a fortnight of literary and associated events, a rich mix of fiction and non-fiction, poetry and prose. This year’s guests include George Alagiah, Robert Lloyd Parry, Cecil Helman, Rosie Garland (Rosie Lugosi), Steve Morris, Ian Gray, Vincent Smith, Jon Oxendale, Ferzanna Riley and more, plus there will be opportunities to participate in a cornucopia of activities.

TY NEWYDD FESTIVAL (BIENNIAL)

A biennial, trilingual festival in the North Wales countryside. Poets and authors that have taken part include Seamus Heaney, Cathal O Searcaigh, Colm Toibin, Jan Morris, Twm Morys, Gillian Clarke, Niall Griffiths, Tessa Hadley, Benjamin Zephaniah and Menna Elfyn.

UEA INTERNATIONAL LITERATURE FESTIVAL Spring 2008
February - June 2008

Past speakers include Michael Ondaatje, Nawal El Saadawi, Doris Lessing, P. D. James, Claire Tomalin, Michael Frayn, Roy Hattersley, Stephen Poliakoff and Michael Holroyd. This year's speakers include Junot Diaz, Linda Grant, Louis de Bernieres, Posy Simmonds and Isabel Allende.

WISDOM IN THE WORDS

The theme for this years festival in Exeter, Devon, is sharing wisdom and the part that Storytelling and Storytelling Skills can play in facilitating and enhancing any learning or social experience. Speakers include Pippa Reid and Debbie Guneratne as well as the Unlimited Company of Storytellers.
