Uk events

We organise the Cambridge Seminar of Contemporary Writers and The Bookcase (linked to the Edinburgh International Book Festival) biennially. We are involved in other events that vary from year to year, for example the Speechless project in 2008, and we also host the International Welcome Point at The London Book Fair every spring.

Speechless

A unique international performance poetry project, and starting in October 2008, Apples & Snakes and the British Council Literature Department will take Speechless around the UK.

""

Literary Festivals

We provide a free comprehensive guide to Literary Festivals (and general Arts Festivals with a literary content) happening around the UK.

""

Cambridge Seminar

Our Cambridge Seminar on Contemporary British Literature is a bi-annual event with participants from over over 40 countries meeting and taking part in debates ranging over many literary and cultural issues. The next event is due to take place in 2009.

""

Oxford Conference on the Teaching of Literature

This annual conference, which we have historically organised, was designed for all those who teach literature at tertiary and upper secondary levels, or who are involved with teacher training. Participants often contributed short papers on aspects of their own teaching experience and research.

""

Bookcase

The Bookcase is a showcase of contemporary literature at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. This year the event took place from the 14 - 18 August. Click here for more details.

The London Book Fair

At the London Book Fair each year we work closely with the organisers to provide visitors from developing and emerging markets within the publishing industry.
