Working with us - British Council - Arts
Who do you work with?
The British Council currently has formal partnership agreements with BBC World Service, Arts Council England, Arts Council Wales, Scottish Arts Council, and Arts Council Northern Ireland.
Arts Group also has a variety of project-specific partnerships with other organisations and institutions that have an interest in representing UK arts, culture and creative industries abroad – please visit our Partners page
to find out more about examples of work we have created in collaboration with others.
How do you decide which artists to work with?
Working with our colleagues and partners overseas, our role in Arts Group is to identify appropriate artists and work. We work with a wide variety of artists who are invited to participate in our projects. Who we choose to work with is based primarily on the identification of need and opportunity overseas - for example, is that work the right fit for the intended audience. It's our aim to show the very best of contemporary artistic practice from across the UK, so as a guideline, we work with artists who are showing at major venues in the UK, such as the Tate or National Theatre, but we also keep up to date with national and specialist media, print and broadcast reviews.
Do you have a list of ‘approved artists’?
No. We are always looking out for new creative talent and exciting fresh work which reflects the very best of contemporary artistic practice in the UK. We try to see as much work around the UK as possible so we can keep up-to-date with new developments across all art forms.
How can my business work with you?

Do you accept project submissions or proposals?
We do not accept project submissions or proposals. We work closely with our partners to develop projects specially for their audiences. We approach artists we feel are appropriate following the outcomes of our reserach and development work.
How do I find out what your current projects are?
You can find out about our current projects and activities via our homepage
, on the Arts projects page or the various art form pages
How do I invite a British Council Arts specialist to my show/event/reading/film/performance/exhibition?
We try to see as much arts work in the UK as possible, but have to prioritise some events over others as it is not possible for our specialists to attend everything. You can send information about your project to firstname.lastname@example.org
and if it is possible for someone to come along, we will let you know.
What is the Arts Group policy for Equal Opportunities and Diversity?
