Drama & Dance - Publications and Websites

A collection of five extraordinary plays exploring and reflecting contemporary life across the Near East and North Africa.

In 2007 the Royal Court Theatre’s International Department and the British Council embarked on an ambitious project working with twenty-one writers from across the Near East North Africa region.

The British Council, in partnership with Nick Hern Books and Royal Court Theatre, has now produced - which brings together five of the resultant plays: by Mohammad Al Attar from Syria; by Imad Farajin from Palestine; by Kamal Khalladi from Morocco; by Arzé Khodr from Lebanon; and by Laila Soliman.

The plays tackle a wide range of thought-provoking issues such as politics, isolation, repression, feminism and family. The book also includes an absorbing foreword by Laila Hourani, the British Council’s Regional Manager Creativity for the Near East North Africa region. You can order your copy for only £14.99 at www.nickhernbooks.co.uk.
