Connected was a showcase of interactive performance from some of the most innovative artists in the UK who are creating work with live and digital media.
The showcase featured a diverse range of artists and companies, and encompassed seated studio performances, audio journeys, pervasive games and one-on-one encounters. Some pieces require an audience, others ask for players, listeners or participants. The artists taking part in Connected are experimenting artistically and technologically to find new ways to connect with the audience of the 21st century and to create exceptional live experiences that are unique to theatre.
The Connected showcase in Tokyo took place as part of the Tokyo Performing Arts Market (TPAM) and featured the following artists and companies: Andy Field, Adrian Howells, Billy Cowie, Blast Theory, Coney, Duncan Speakman, Gob Squad, Hide & Seek, Melanie Wilson, Rotozaza, Stan's Cafe, Stoke Newington International Airport, Third Angel and Tim Crouch.
During the lifespan of the project, the Connected website acted as a hub for people to discuss and debate the artists, their work, the audience and the event itself.
