Architecture in Britain is as varied as Britain itself. Much is made, with reason, of the band of internationally-famed architects who are British-based, from Will Alsop to Zaha Hadid, Sir Nicholas Grimshaw to Lord Foster, but there is also another picture to be considered. This is the evolving architecture of a new generation of talent coming to the fore today, nationwide.
The UK is rich in museums, historic buildings and landscape, and British expertise in conserving, managing and developing these assets is recognised worldwide. More information on Cultural Heritage will be available here at a later date. The unique conditions that have bred the UK’s housing crisis will be put under the spotlight in Ellis Woodman's exhibition, Home/Away: Five British Architects Build Housing in Europe, in the British Pavilion for the 11th Venice Biennale of Architecture.
