Inside Heatherwick Studio: Ideas that challenge convention
The touring exhibition Inside Heatherwick Studio is due to open in Hong Kong on 4 September 2015 as part of its ongoing tour of Asia. The exhibition provides a rare insight into the London-based design studio’s work, including world-famous projects such as the UK Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai Expo, the New Bus for London and the Olympic Cauldron from the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Call for Participation: Venice Architecture Biennale 2016
We have launched an open call for exhibition proposals for the British Pavilion at the 15th International Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia, due to take place from 26 May to 27 November 2016. The British Council is seeking expressions of interest in the form of short concept proposals for the theme and visual language of the exhibition.
Tim Etchells: Artist of the City
Watch a film profiling Tim Etchells’ work in a year-long residency as the Lisbon Artist of the City in 2014, where he presented a number of works in collaboration with many of the city’s major arts organisations. The British artist, writer and theatre-maker is perhaps best known as the Artistic Director of Forced Entertainment, who are part of this year’s Edinburgh Showcase programme.
Edinburgh Showcase 2015
The Edinburgh Showcase is our biennial programme of performance, presenting work by some of the most exciting UK companies to visiting international programmers. This year's Showcase incorporates 30 companies and artists working in all areas of performance, from live art, devised and physical theatre to new writing, dance theatre and immersive performance.
British art at the 56th Venice Biennale
Beyond the British Pavilion, there are a host of British artists exhibiting at this year's Venice Biennale, including Steve McQueen, Jeremy Deller, Sonia Boyce, Chris Ofili and Helen Marten to name but a few. In this film, the writer and art historian Tim Marlow explores some of the highlights of the 56th Biennale, which runs until 22 November 2015.
Musicians in Residence - China
In partnership with the PRS for Music Foundation, five British artists were selected for the 2014 Musicians in China Residencies programme. Anna Meredith, Arun Ghosh, Oliver Coates, Sam Genders and Sid Peacock each spent six weeks in cities across China, writing new material, exploring creative opportunities and collaborating with local artists.
