ABOUT CAROLINA
Carolina is 27 years old and lives in Chascomus, Province of Buenos Aires. She has a degree in Political Science of the University of Buenos Aires and works as Coordinator or Youth Policies a the Municipality of Chascomus.
ABOUT HER PROJECT
Carolina´s project objective is to raise awareness about climate change problems and promote good practices. She works in a team of 10 young people between 18 and 27 years old; they have been working since October 2010, within the Municipality framework, organising training workshops, cinema sessions followed by debates, improving green outdoor spaces, art interventions among other activities. They work with public and private organisations. Working in a medium sized community has its advantages as it is easy for these “promoters” to access the media and they speak with neighbours on a daily basis and his allows them to have some influence on simple routine actions.
WHAT IS HER BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
Her biggest challenge is to place the subject in the community agenda and involve more actors to raise awareness and change people’s behaviours. To achieve this it is key to take on a proactive role and create working teams for the different activities.
HOW CAN CAROLINA MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
To start the change in her community, to be a catalyst and empower young sector to make a cultural change.
