ENRIQUE SCHWARTZ MOREIRA

CLIMATE CHAMPION

About Enrique

Enrique is 32 years old, Chilean and lives in Buenos Aires. He is an environmental chemist and has a Masters degree in Environmental Science of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Science of the University of Buenos Aires. He also has a diploma on Social Policies: Development and Poverty of the Catholic University of Valaparaíso.

About his project

His project aims at developing an information bridge between the research findings which are associated with scientists and the policy decisions linked to the design and implementation of measures taken to tackle climate change.

The rational of this project is that if the interaction networks of young researchers are strengthened with other social actors (SCOs, communities, local governments, companies etc) there will be a stronger debate about the threat that climate change presents to various social groups.

The project involves the design of 2.0 web tools to enable the interaction of young researchers with other interested social actors. We will promote the exchange of working approaches, research outcomes and discussions. The first publication will be published in the internet.

What is the greatest challenge that Enrique faces?

To approach different social actors who respond to different working practices and intereses which can even be contradictory.

What can Enrique do to make a change?

The first step would be to convince the different actors about the need to define a common agenda. This will be the starting point for social actors (CSOs, local governments) to analyse the recommendations discussed in the network and decide about its applicability.
