Education & Society

Schools: The schools programme provides an educational and cultural platform that creates dialogue on important global issues and maintains a channel of exchanging ideas and sharing knowledge between learners around the world.

The programme creates a network of teachers that examine models of good practice across Africa and the UK.

In Uganda, we work with over 400 primary and secondary schools across the country with support from other partners including the Ministry of Education and Sports

Study in the UK – we promote the UK as a destination for study. Every year, over 5000 Ugandans have study links with the UK
Education and Research partnerships – through projects such as DelPHE, IHLFS and AKTP, we manage 30 partnerships developing new curricula and research in a wide range of subjects
Professional Development Training: these are tailor made courses for organisations to help develop the skills of their staff. For information about the courses we can provide for your organisation, contact info@britishcouncil.or.ug
Scholarships - we look for future Ugandan leaders already experienced in their chosen profession, who want to further develop their career with a postgraduate course in the UK.
Uganda British Alumni Association (UBAA) - we support a network of hundreds of Ugandan alumni who have studied in UK universities and are keen on developing partnerships between Uganda and the UK
Premier Skills: a project run in partnership with the Premier League aims to build capacity of coaches and referees in communities to raise educational standards, tackle issues such as poor health and anti-social behaviour, and promote social inclusion.
