Exams

Last year, the British Council worldwide helped 2 million people sit professional and academic exams from the UK. In Kenya, we help thousands of students and professionals by providing access to UK qualifications. We administer a wide range of exams including IELTS, CIE, ACCA, CIPS and more. Find out more here.

Professional development training: We offer training in workplace communication skills and can tailor it to meet your organisation’s training needs. English online:We offer three free websites to help you improve your English: LearnEnglish, LearnEnglishKids, and TeachingEnglish.

Education & Society

Active Citizens: This community empowerment and social action programme seeks to create a global network of socially responsible citizens. It promotes the use of intercultural dialogue between communities in the UK and Africa.
Global Exchange: a programme run in partnership with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO).  It gives young people from different countries a unique opportunity to work together, develop and share valuable skills as they make a practical a contribution to local communities.
Premier Skills: an international coaching and referee development project run in partnership with the Premier League UK. It provides training courses to help young people become multi skilled community coaches and referees by enhancing their football coaching and community leadership skills.
Scholarships: We administer various UK scholarships on behalf of organisations such as The Association of Commonwealth Universities and Chevening.
DelPHE: Developing Partnerships in Higher Education enables Higher Education institutions to act as catalysts for poverty reduction and sustainable development. It strengthens research, teaching and consultancy bases through partnerships between education institutions in the UK  and Kenya.
IHL: International Health Links aims to strengthen health services by building links between health institutions in Kenya and the UK.
Connecting Classrooms: a project that supports intercultural dialogue through three-way partnerships between schools in sub-Saharan Africa and the UK. Each partnership consists of three clusters of three schools, one from the UK and two from African countries.
DGSP: DFID Global Schools Partnership programme supports partnerships between schools in the UK and Kenya. It brings global issues into the lives of young people and their communities by including global education into their school curriculum.

Arts

Creative Enterprises: This programme offers business skills training for the creative sector. The sectors covered include advertising, crafts, film, video, photography, music, publishing, visual and performing arts.
Hay Festival: an annual festival organised by the British Council that offers an oppurtunity for writers, thinkers and academics from around the world to meet and exchange ideas with a passionate audience and to build lasting relationships.
