British Council at the fair

The August bank holiday was a hot one - fabulous weather and an eventful few days for the accreditation unit and ELT promotions!

International Languages and Education UK Fair 2005 (Brighton)
As part of our ELT Promotion work the British Council supports the International Languages and Education UK Fair. The Fair provided an excellent opportunity for our overseas British Council Education Promotion staff participating in the Fair and key British Council staff from the UK to meet the ELT providers they represent and to make contact with agents. We were delighted as always to attend this prestigious and premiere annual B2B event for the ELT sector, organised by our partner in the EiB Accreditation Scheme, English UK. As every year, the British Council organises a closed ELT Promotions workshop ahead of the Fair for participants from our overseas network to collaborate in a two way process on ELT promotions strategic planning, sharing good practice and developments in the UK ELT sector.

ALPHE UK Workshop 2005 (London)
The British Council was invited to attend Alphe UK this year, joining 16 EiBAS accredited ELT providers with a stand in the British Council village. This annual event was a unique opportunity for us to promote the value of the EiB Accreditation Scheme, recognisable by the ‘accredited by the British Council’ marque, and provide support for accredited schools attending the event. Together Sarah Wang (from English UK) and Hilary Rees-Parnell (Chief Inspector, EiB Accreditation Scheme) fielded enquiries from agents about our services. Angela Sexton, (Manager, EL Promotion and Communications) and Fiona Pape (Manager, EL Quality Services) attended the opening reception and the GAELA (Global Alliance of Education and Language Associations) and FELCA (Federation of Education and Language Consultant Associations) meetings ahead of the event.

Opportunities for us to meet face to face with our accredited providers are few and far between and we really value events such as these in our mission to work in partnership with the ELT sector.
