ARTiculate! competition

History of the Competition

The British Council and Moscow Kremlin Museums express their gratitude to all schoolchildren and students who took part in the essay competition ARTiculate! devoted to sculpture in contemporary urban spaces.

The competition is timed to the exhibition Henry Moore and the Classic Canon of Modern Sculpture (21 February – 10 May 2012) and we are glad that the majority of essays’ topics was “My Henry Moore” that let explore Moore’s creative work and reflect on it.

The finalists are sent congratulation letters and invitations to take part in the second stage of the competition – public readings – that will take place in the Kremlin Museums on 25 May 2012. Each finalist will make a presentation using PowerPoint for 5-10 minutes. The speakers should defend their essay reflecting their own ideas, impressions and methodology.

The jury will choose the winners who will get exhibition catalogues signed by Henry Moore’s daughter and the exhibition curator, as well as free entrance to all Kremlin Museums’ exhibitions during the year. The main prize is a trip to the United Kingdom.

The jury members:

Elena Gagarina – Director, Moscow Kremlin Museums

Zelfira Tregulova – Deputy Director for Exhibitions, Moscow Kremlin Museums

Olga Dmitrieva – Deputy Director for Scientific Work, Moscow Kremlin Museums

Christian Duncumb – Deputy Director, British Council Russia.

Some works that were not short-listed received a high appraisal of the jury and their authors will be rewarded with letters of commendation.
