ARTISTIC POLICY
Tilted Productions produces award-winning, visually striking and thought provoking dance theatre by its Artistic Director Maresa von Stockert. Taking a piercing look at life today, von Stockert seamlessly integrates original music, physical theatre, dark humour and text into intricate choreography that ‘ingeniously weaves set and props’ (The Scotsman). Beautifully subtle and sometimes brutally disturbing, social and political observations lie at the heart of Tilted’s work, which is meaningful and relevant.
REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘Von Stockert creates a wonderful atmosphere of menace, highlighting the absurdity of the world she invents... a true original.’ Judith Mackrell, The Guardian (TrAPPED)
‘A brilliantly physical political satire… Combining verse and dialogue with an intriguing soundscape… a clever, witty, politically provocative piece.’ Stephanie Ferguson, Yorkshire Post (TrAPPED)
‘One of the most intriguing talents in British dance theatre.’ Keith Watson, Metro (Glacier)
CURRENT PRODUCTION
TrAPPED A commentary on today’s CCTV-laden world and the former German Democratic Republic. A Kafkaesque world, both poetic and dark, is evoked through original music, spoken word and emotionally-charged choreography. (75 mins. no interval, 5 on stage, 8 on the road.)
FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
Four Drops in the Ocean Unsustainable fishing, coastal erosion and sea pollution inspire four short dance theatre pieces. Non-didactic and often tragicomic, they can be performed in or outdoors, suiting festivals and conferences. (4 pieces, 5 min each, 4 on stage, 6 on the road.)
Masquerade Plays with our perceptions of people based on appearance: clothes, colour, size, age. Un-ticking the boxes, Masquerade questions how we see others and ourselves in an age of statistics. (70 mins, no interval, 7 on stage, 10 on the road..)
WRAP-AROUND
Tilted offers a variety of associated activities, which can be adapted to a range of abilities and ages. Practical workshops are geared to encourage participants to develop their own creative voices as well as explore Tilted’s artistic practice (working with text and objects for example) and themes explored in the work. Tilted can tailor these to non-professionals and to professional dancers and actors. We also offer sessions especially designed for the over 60s. Alongside the touring productions, dancers and artistic director are also available for post-show discussions.
TOURING AVAILABILITY
