REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘One of our most tirelessly inventive theatre companies… Stan’s Cafe are breaking the mould of what theatre can and might be.’ The Guardian (Of All The People In All The World)

‘[Stan’s Cafe’s]… current work is witty, at times overwhelming and always thought-provoking. It is well worth going out of your way to see it.’ The Times (Of All The People In All The World)

The Cleansing of Constance Brown… is an example of just what a worthwhile festival should offer – visually delightful, imaginatively intriguing and resonant.’ The Irish Times (The Cleansing of Constance Brown)

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Home of the Wriggler Inspired by the closure of a local car plant, this show, set in a post-industrial age where petrol has run out, reflects how, in a globalised world, our lives are woven together. (80 mins, no interval, 4 on stage, 7 on the road.)

Of All The People In All The World This performance installation uses grains of rice to bring human statistics to vivid life and tell powerful stories of the world in which we live. (Maximum performance time – 6 hours per day, number of performers varies on scale of show chosen – minimum 4.)

The Cleansing of Constance Brown This spectacular piece of visual theatre is performed on a stage 2m wide and 14m deep. It boldly explores themes of power and cleansing through its elusive female protagonist. (70 mins, no interval, 7 on stage, 11 on the road.)

The Black Maze Built in the back of a lorry. The Black Maze is a cross between a fairground ride and a rite of passage and has been a hit with adults and children of all ages. Operational for up to six hours per day, average trip round takes five minutes, audience members can go alone or in pairs. (2 on the road.)

Be Proud of Me This international thriller uses slide projections to glide across Europe. Its evocative text helps reveal the hallucinogenic world of an unlikely assassin overcome by guilt and grief. (60 mins, no interval, 2 on stage, 5 on the road.)

It’s Your Film An extraordinary experience. Lasting just 240 seconds and performed for an audience of one, It’s Your Film plays exhilarating tricks on the eye and the mind. (Up to 6 hours – 6 minutes per performance, 4 in total to cover performance and technical requirements.)

Steps Series An installation remade for each venue, in which audience members perform their own show following footprints and other graphic vinyl instructions stuck to floors, walls, tables and other surfaces in public spaces. In situ all the time venue is open. (2 people to install.)
