ARTISTIC POLICY
Ridiculusmus produces unconventional, innovative and accessible theatre. Work is created, written and performed by David Woods and Jon Haynes. The company makes ‘seriously funny’ and deadly serious theatre. Ridiculusmus’ working method is about creating the nothingness where expression can take place. Ridiculusmus are inspired by Samuel Beckets’ last words on theatre: ‘To find a form that accommodates the mess, that is the task of the artist now.’

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘Absurd, nonsensical, puerile and brilliant – everything you would expect from the award winning duo Ridiculusmus A Meandering medley of madness… brilliant.’ Time Out

‘Their writing is brilliantly surreal, their performance not just comedy but a theatrical tour de force… Woods and Haynes are unspeakably skilled and highly original.’ The Age, Australia

‘As an articulation of the chaotic nature of life and the vitality of which drama is capable… Ridiculusmus would be hard to better.’ The Irish Times

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS

(70 mins, no interval, strong Language, adult content, 3 on the road.)

The Importance of Being Earnest Ridiculusmus presents a glorious subversion of Wilde’s comic masterpiece, in which all nine roles are performed by David Woods and Jon Haynes. (140 mins, interval. 4–5 on the road.)

How to Be Funny Ridiculusmus presents a seminal lecture on the art of being funny. (60 mins, no interval. 2–4 on the road.)

A Conversation about Comedy Dr Dave and Dr Jon discuss the merits and pitfalls of practising (and analysing) comedy as they attempt to articulate a pathway to funniness. (60 mins, no interval, 2 on the road.)

Say Nothing An irreverent provocation for peace, when the general rule is ‘whatever you say, say nothing’. (70 mins, no interval. 3–4 on the road, strong language.)
