ARTISTIC POLICY
Paines Plough is an award-winning theatre company specialising exclusively in commissioning both new and established playwrights and producing world premieres of their work. Paines Plough places the playwright at the very core of the creative process. The company searches for unique voices, engaging with the contemporary world from an original perspective. Paines Plough also runs a strand of work aimed at identifying, encouraging and supporting emerging playwrights.
REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘Gripping... A narrative of escalating menace and horror... This creepy tale builds an atmosphere that lingers long after the curtain call.’ The Independent (Orphans)
‘Darkly comic and deeply unsettling... Kelly is on top form.’ The Guardian (Orphans)
CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Orphans by Dennis Kelly. Award-winning contemporary suspense story directed by Roxana Silbert, premiered at the Traverse Theatre 2009. (105 mins, 3 on stage, 6 on the road, includes strong language and references to violence.)
WRAP-AROUND
Paines Plough is happy to provide pre- and post-show talks and workshops offering audiences a dialogue with the playwright, actors and/or creative team of the show. We are particularly interested in running playwriting workshops, in which we have a great deal of experience. We can run introductory workshops, masterclasses, or residencies of up to two weeks. Workshops are run by a combination of Paines Plough playwrights and directors. These are practical, vocational, aimed at novice playwrights and limited to 15 people. Other workshops, specially devised events and activities, are available on request.
