ARTISTIC POLICY
Mojisola Adebayo collaborates with international artists from various disciplines to create accessible, inclusive, interactive, multi-sensory, and physical storytelling theatre performances and workshops. Mojisola’s productions arise from her own new writing and are expressed within a broadly African aesthetic. All of her work is concerned with power, identity, and change.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Moj of the Antarctic: An African Odyssey Inspired by the true story of a race and gender cross-dressed run away African-American slave woman. Exploring identity, climate and change. With original music, movement, poetry and visuals shot on location on Antarctica. (1 hour 15 mins, 1 performer plus 2 technicians.)

Muhammad Ali and Me Follows the parallel lives of a Black girl child growing up in a London children’s home in the 1970s, and her hero, Muhammad Ali. With poetry, singing, magic, integrated British Sign Language and rare original fight footage. (120 mins with interval, 3 on stage, 5 on the road.)

FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
Matt Henson, North Star The second in Mojisola Adebayo’s series of polar productions. This is the story of the first man at the North Pole, a black man. A tale of betrayal exploring climate change. (Large-scale production with 10 performers, integrated British Sign Language and audio description.)

48 Minutes for Palestine Visual play, totally in movement and without words. A story of occupation, expressed in the relationship between a man and a woman living in the same small space. In collaboration with Ashtar Theatre. (2 on stage, minimal set.)

Current commissions: Desert Boy with Nitro (black music theatre) and Albany. A Queer Occupation with Queer Up North International Festival. And Mandela, the Driver and the Soccer Star in collaboration with film-maker Shelley Barry, dancer/choreographers Mamela Nyamza and Sheron Wray and British Council Cape Town.

WRAP-AROUND
Mojisola Adebayo is an expert in Theatre of the Oppressed and has worked extensively in Theatre for Development, worldwide. She offers workshops on themes raised by the shows and the methods in their creation. Mojisola is also an academic and can provide lectures, discussions, demonstrations and play readings.
