ARTISTIC POLICY
Lost Dog combines text, movement, and live music to tell physical stories, to create work that is relevant, accessible, and entertaining. The company’s work is characterised by emotional power and dark humour. Lost Dog creates worlds in which characters communicate both physically and verbally, where people say what needs to be said and dance the rest.
REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘A very bright new voice in dance theatre.’ Time Out
‘Highly theatrical... subversively humorous.’ Metro
‘Simultaneously raw and slick, Lost Dog have created a work that hits the mark on every level.’ The Stage (The Drowner)
CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Salvage Tells the story of disaster – and what happens in the aftermath – the moment it’s all ended. What becomes important and what do we save. (50 mins, no interval, 8 on the road.)
Hungry Ghosts Explores the lives of those unlucky ones who decided to go to the theatre the night it was hijacked. Inspired by the events of the Moscow Theatre siege. (60 mins, no interval, 6 on stage, 8 on the road.)
The Rain Parade A show about two people who got left behind to tell us what it was really like before we wiped ourselves out. (45 mins, no interval, 3 on stage, 5 on the road.)
WRAP-AROUND
Lost Dog workshops – everybody has a story to tell. Our bodies, lived experience and imaginations provide the richest of texts and Lost Dog believe in the creative potential of each of us to dance, choreograph, write and perform. With this in mind, a range of education projects are available for booking with the company. The workshops draw on the company’s approach to devising physical theatre and involve a combination of the improvisation, movement research and creation, creative writing and physical theatre exercises they use when making work. Lost Dog provides half- and full-day workshops as well as week-long residencies. The workshops are designed to accommodate and inspire a range of participants, from those with little or no dance experience through to practising artists. Ages 15+. The company can also deliver specific skill-based sessions, such as professional technique class or contact improvisation classes. Post-show discussions are available for all productions.
