ARTISTIC POLICY
Liz Aggiss is a performer, choreographer, award-winning dance film-maker and Professor of Visual Performance at the University of Brighton. Her practice is eclectic, and inspired by the expressive movement of European Ausdruckstanz dance icons of the early 20th century. It is contained, highly visual, provocative and often hilarious. Existing on both stage and screen, her work blurs the boundaries between high art and popular culture.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘Anarchic, strawberry blonde, fearless and satirical. Aggiss has an incredible charisma.’ Georgina Harper, londondance.com (Performance Lecture)

‘Thankfully, key examples of her work have been captured on film but this can’t compensate for the live experience.’ Graham Watts, www.ballet.co.uk (Guerrilla Dances)

‘Immaculate timing and choreographic precision we expect (and get) from these two highly experienced dance artists.’ Dorothy Max Prior, Total Theatre (Double Vision)

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Survival Tactics: A Performance Lecture How does a mature, post-modern, solo, female dancer seek out the shadows from the past and sustain her practice for the past 30 years? (50 mins, 1 on stage, 2 on road.)

Guerrilla Dances Reconstructing archive choreography, inspired by Ausdruckstanz, mixing up fact and fiction, Guerrilla Dances comes as self-contained package ideal for festivals, showcases or conferences. (Series of dances, max 5 mins each, 1 on stage, 2/3 on road.)

Double Vision A collaboration with Charlotte Vincent. A female double act with a combined age of 96, Double Vision explores the relationship between director and performer, between conceptual complexity and physical simplicity, between seriousness and humour. (60 mins + Q&A, 2 on stage, 4 on road.)
