ARTISTIC POLICY
Heart n Soul is a multi-disciplinary arts organisation led by artists with learning disabilities. It makes music, theatre, dance, visual art, digital art, films and participatory cultural events. Heart n Soul is renowned as the creator of The Beautiful Octopus Club and The Squidz Club, which is for young people.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
The Beautiful Octopus Club and The Squidz Club Participatory arts events or DJs and VJs. The original participatory events showcasing and celebrating learning disability culture in performing and digital arts on several stages. Collaborating with local artists to create a high-quality, inclusive, interdisciplinary cultural experience. DJs and VJs also available separately. Live music – Lizzie Emeh. (Up to 4 hours, from 6 on stage, 12 on the road. DJs/VJs – 2 on stage, 4 on the road.)

Soul Diva Singer-songwriter Lizzie Emeh performs songs from her debut album Loud & Proud. With the rich backing of a live band (PA to backing tracks also available) and a specially commissioned digital backdrop, Lizzie’s music is direct, diverse, sometimes up-tempo, sometimes poignant but always touching. Live Music – The Fish Police. (1 hour, no interval, minimum of 5 on stage, 8 on the road.)

The Fish Police are a funk/punk trio influenced by Japanese anime and culture, as well as fast food, pop music and TV. In this high-energy show they perform songs from their debut album. Suitable for an audience of young people. Physical/Visual Theatre – Live Heart. (45 mins, no interval, 3 on stage, 6 on the road.)

Frameworks is an improvisation piece using singing, music, words, movement and projected images directed by Guy Dartnell. Includes opera, verbal duets, free movement, the violin, Elvis and laughing. Features Danny Nasirpour Smith and Chris Brierley. (30 mins, no interval, 2 on stage, 3 crew – 5 on road.)

WRAP-AROUND
Heart n Soul provides a wide range of wrap-around activities tailored to the precise needs of the booker. This could be a post-show discussion, a session for people with learning disabilities in a topic such as careers in music or consultancy for arts professionals wanting to set up and/or develop cultural activities involving artists and audiences with learning disabilities.
