ARTISTIC POLICY
Anushiye Yarnell’s performance works create an alternative territory for the audience and performer to co-habit. She unfolds a dimension synergising fantasy and reality, reconstructing fragments from the realm of everyday life into existential, functional daydreaming. The frictional romance between choreographed and improvised movement generates a process of transformation, a kind of deliberate, accidental self-deconstruction. Her works draw on personal experience, past and future mythologies, notions of paradise and civilisation, dreams, and cultural diversity.

REVIEW EXTRACTS
‘An innovative, tantalising and provocative performer… far from conventional... wonderful, disturbing and physically impressive.’ Theatre Wales (Exotica)

‘In her distinctive, quirky, gauche yet elegant style… It steered a course between the erotic and the absurd with a fine sense of intriguing ambiguity.’ David Adams, The Western Mail (Bear)

‘Yarnell still has the power to entrance and she has that magic ingredient that makes out the creative genius.’ David Adams, The Western Mail (Sugar Blood-(BOXING))

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Bear An examination of the mysterious identities and interconnections of love, human and animal. Investigates Yarnell‘s emotional state when inhabiting an animal’s outer skin and layers that with her personal inner reflections of a love affair. Ambiguous in its exploration of female sexuality, Bear treads a line between the sensuous and the absurd, reality and fantasy. (30 or 50 mins, no interval, 1 on stage, 1–2 on the road.)

Sugar Blood-(BOXING) Contrasts three forms of beating – the beating heart, the beating of conflict, and the beating of a butterfly’s wings in flight. The piece explores the tension between embrace and violence, sex and love, attachment and freedom, and searches for a common source for these energies in the human heart. (33 mins, 1 on stage, 2 on the road.)

Pas de Deux (with shopping trolley) This piece touches upon delight, boredom, a fascination for watching light and dust, wanting to be somewhere else instead, make believe, destiny, time and limbo, being alone with someone else, faraway, happiness, dancing, and love in spite of fantasy. (45 mins, 1 on stage, 1 on the road.)
