The Biomedical Imaging Center’s new 3T whole body magnet is lowered into the basement of the Beckman Institute
The Beckman Institute acquired a new 3T whole-body magnet that will allow further expansion of MRI and fMRI research. This new magnet set into motion a major change at the Beckman Institute: swapping the space the Biomedical Imaging Center (BIC) occupied on the south side of campus with the Illinois Simulator Laboratory (ISL) that was in the basement of the Beckman Institute.
Over the past year BIC and ISL underwent the arduous task of moving their equipment and staff to their respective new locations. Both groups have made every effort to ensure that the least amount of interruption is being made to research projects being conducted at their facilities.
The new 3T magnet was delivered on July 8, 2009. The photo gallery below documents this transition.
