Arabic is the language of the Qur'an and the fifth most widely spoken language in the world . Career opportunities for Arabic speakers and translators are now greater than ever.

In our Arabic program, you'll learn about the unique culture, literature, and historic influences on the language and experience the beauty of Islam while expanding your language skills through role plays, language exercises, literature, newspaper articles and films.

Our program offers six levels of language instruction in Arabic – from Level 1 classes in basic reading, writing and speaking skills to advanced Level 6 classes that focus on conversation about current events, business, fashion and culture, as well as on expository writing, presentations, and study of sophisticated texts. This course is an introduction to Standard Modern Arabic, which is used on television and in newspapers throughout the Arabic-speaking world. Learn how to engage in simple small talk, including giving greetings, describing hobbies, friends and family, and asking and answering questions about travel, weather, food and restaurants. Practice reading and writing simple sentences using the Arabic alphabetic writing system.

For the high beginner who has some familiarity with Arabic, this course provides simple conversation practice with introductions, weekly schedules, clothing, body parts, shopping, transportation, holidays, customs and traditions. Focus on present and past tense, asking and answering questions and making comparisons. Read and write short passages.
