Dr. Carmen Burkhalter aligns instructional technology with the institutional mission of the College by supervising the best practices, strategies and policies in instructional systems. She also handles accessibility initiatives for students and faculty and monitors the use of emerging technologies. Burkhalter is an associate dean in the Dean's Office and coordinates academic and operational issues for the College's social science departments. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Burkhalter received her master's and doctoral degrees in audiology from The University of Alabama and a bachelor’s in speech pathology from Columbia College, Columbia, South Carolina.

Tony serves as a technology support manager for the College. He manages the everyday operation of the College’s computer labs and consults with John Hawkins on the development and design of the College’s websites. Tony received a bachelor of arts degree with a double major in English and American Studies as well as a master of arts degree in American Studies, all from the University of Alabama. Additionally, he received a master of education in Educational Technology from the University of Arkansas. Tony has been employed by the University of Alabama since May 2006.

Alma Fuller provides administrative support for the Senior Information Officer and the Office of Educational Technology (eTech). She is the first line of communication for the College’s acquisition, installation and maintenance of all technology within the College. She also serves as a channel of communication between the faculty, students, staff and the Office of Information Technology. Alma has been employed by The University of Alabama since December 2007.

Dr. Julia Hartman, whose specialty is instructional technology, works with faculty who wish to use technology in their teaching in order to enhance student learning. Previously, Hartman held positions as a research associate in the UA Colleges of Community Health Sciences and as Manager of Instructional Technology with the College of Continuing Studies. She has been with the University for 25 years. She received her doctorate from The University of Alabama, a master’s degree in anthropology from the University of South Florida, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Emory University.
John Hawkins

John Hawkins is responsible for the design and development of internet Web sites for The College of Arts and Sciences. John is also responsible for helping develop database-related web services for the College. John has been employed by The University of Alabama since August 2006.
Paul Jarnagin

Paul Jarnagin serves the College in a technology support role. He functions as a point of contact for classroom technology enhancement and college-wide technology initiatives. He works as a liaison with the Office of Information Technology and the College of Arts and Sciences. He also oversees the coordination and implementation of the technology support at Brewer Porch Children’s Center, which operates six mental health service programs in Tuscaloosa for children and adolescents with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. Paul has been employed by the University of Alabama since March 2007.
