Jimmy Vail serves as the chief financial officer and manages fiscal affairs for the College. He directs the management of departmental accounts and prepares annual budgets for the College. He also provides information and consultation to faculty, staff and administration on fiscal matters. Jimmy is a graduate of The University of Alabama where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Gayle Lind is responsible for assuring sound fiscal management in each Arts and Sciences department and the College as a whole. She is the primary resource person for departments in resolving problems related to fiscal management, interpreting University guidelines, and recommending methods of processing necessary paperwork and formalities. Gayle has knowledge of the regulations governing budget structure, procurement methods, and use of grant funding that apply to The University of Alabama, The College of Arts and Sciences, and its departments. She is proficient in the accounting practices and techniques and state, local and federal regulations and guidelines that pertain to the fiscal management of The College of Arts and Sciences and its departments. She has been employed at The University of Alabama for nearly 20 years.

Kerri Morthland is responsible for assuring sound fiscal management in each Arts and Sciences department and the College as a whole. She is the primary resource person for departments in resolving problems related to fiscal management, salary control, interpreting University guidelines, and recommending methods of processing necessary paperwork and formalities. She also provides information and consultation to faculty, staff and administration on fiscal matters. Kerri is a graduate of Auburn University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. She has been employed by the University since 2005 and has previously served in both the Accounts Payable and Budget offices.
Janis Elkins

Janis Elkins serves as the accounting assistant to the Director of Administrative Services. She processes employee payroll paperwork, time cards, invoices, and purchase orders, and has knowledge of the regulations and policies of fiscal management that are pertinent to The College of Arts and Sciences and its departments. She serves as an advisor to departments regarding financial matters and ensures that college and departmental purchases and expenditures adhere to University of Alabama policies and procedures. Janis has been employed by The University of Alabama since 1993 and has previously served in both the Engineering and International Programs offices.
