What settings do I need to configure a third party mail client?

Please refer to the following information when configuring a mail client for a UAlbany email account:

WebMail (UNIX email account)

• Incoming server: imap.albany.edu
• Outgoing (smtp) server when connected to the UAlbany network: smtp.albany.edu
• Outgoing (smtp) server for residential students when connected to Apogee: albany-mailer.apogeenet.net
• Outgoing (smtp) server for off-campus users: Contact your ISP for smtp server *

* When using an Internet Service Provider (ISP), such as RoadRunner, Verizon, Comcast or AT&T, off-campus users must contact their ISP for the outgoing SMTP server information.

NOTE: AOL does not provide a separate outgoing SMTP server. You must use the AOL mail service and not a mail client software to send mail.

Outlook (Exchange email account)

• exchange.albany.edu OR
• https://exchange.albany.edu/

NOTE: The Exchange server uses secure IMAP, port 993
