Illini 4000: Members of the Illini 4000 club, an organization that raises money by biking across the US, pose in front of Mount Rushmore.

There are more than 1,000 Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) at Illinois. Find a club for every interest and hobby, from academics and professional to philanthropic and political. Plus, there are many just for fun! If you can’t find what you’re looking for, it’s easy to start your own.

Getting involved in RSOs is a foolproof way to build your community on campus and foster organizational and leadership skills, which will help prepare you for life after Illinois.

Quad Day

Each August during Welcome Week, the Quad fills for Quad Day, where Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) advertise their clubs all in one location. This is the perfect opportunity to jump-start your involvement on campus.

Leadership Experience

Future Leaders: Illinois students learn about leadership and gain valuable experience through various channels on campus.

Certain organizations provide you with specialized leadership experience and assist you in utilizing your skills to successfully lead others in classroom and professional environments.

Some leadership opportunities at Illinois:

  • Run for a position in the Illinois Student Senate, the student-run governing body of the University.
  • Plan events as a member of the Illini Union Board, which coordinates over 200 events annually on campus.
  • Attend leadership workshops and earn leadership certificates through the Leadership Center to help develop your skills.

Volunteer Opportunities

Get Your Hands Dirty: Students volunteer at the Illinois Sustainable Student Farm and learn about growing and supplying food.

Giving back to the community is a priority at Illinois and our students have multiple opportunities to get involved.

  • Learn a variety of ways you can help out at the Office of Volunteer Programs, a partnership between Illinois and the United Way that provides service opportunities in the Champaign-Urbana area.
  • Tutor in local schools with the America Reads and Counts programs.
  • Build houses for Habitat for Humanity.
  • Find a service opportunity that aligns with your academic field of study, such as volunteering at local hospitals for pre-health majors.
