Welcome! The University of Virginia welcomes applications from students seeking to transfer from other accredited colleges and universities.
U.Va. places a high value on maintaining a diverse campus culture—including making sure that our students come to the University with varied backgrounds and experiences. A significant portion of the U.Va. population is comprised of transfers. Each year more than 500 transfer students enroll, a quarter of whom are nontraditionally aged, and a third of whom come from the Virginia Community College System. We feel that learning is not just about engaging in the classroom, but about folding life experiences into new contexts and opportunities. Transfer students are a vital part of the University community, contributing substantially to academic and extracurricular life on Grounds.
For transfer admission questions that are not answered on this web site please call the Admission Office at 434-982-3200.
