Read Oregon and WOU Reading Endorsement Preparing Teachers to be Reading Specialists

The Reading Endorsement program focuses on preparing K-12 teachers to be specialists or to improve their knowledge and skills in teaching reading.

SPRING TERM 2013 READING COURSES

This 24 credit graduate program focuses on reading theory, curriculum, assessment, and strategies to enhance and broaden both reading specific knowledge and other responsibilities encountered by classroom teachers, resource teachers, and reading specialists. This program leads to an add-on endorsement to an Oregon teaching license. You can complete the Reading program by itself or in conjunction with a graduate degree program.

Focus:

  • K-12 teachers who want to be reading specialists
  • K-12 teachers who want to improve their knowledge and skills in teaching reading
  • Pre-service teachers

Admission Process

The ReadOregon program has a short online Application form you can complete online. This helps to keep you updated with the current information for ReadOregon courses. READOREGON Application

When you confirm WOU as your home institution for completing your Reading Endorsement you need to get admitted as a Graduate student. You can only take up to 9 credits as a non-admit student, so it is important to start the process of getting admitted to Western's Graduate School. Register for ReadOregon classes online if you're a WOU student; otherwise, print and submit by mail or fax our Registration Form (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader).
