The Illini Union Art Gallery continues the Illini Union's mission to enrich the lives of students and the campus community through the freedom of expression and the value of each individual.
SMART ABOUT ART
By serving as a platform to showcase artistry of all different forms, the Illini Union Art Gallery provides an outlet not only for the campus community to further their knowledge, but for the Champaign-Urbana community as well. The Illini Union Board curates and is responsible for the overall management of the exhibits, usually shown monthly. The Illini Union Art Gallery endeavors to explore the constantly evolving world of art and present it to those familiar and introduce newcomers.
Judith Adanma Johnson presents: energy
Ms. Johnson was born in Newfoundland to a white mother and Nigerian father. Raised by her mother and her Chamorro stepfather from Guam, her multicultural background has a great influence on her artwork in addition to music, African textiles, and the raw energy of the present.
The November Art Gallery exhibit, Energy, displays Ms. Johnson's affinity towards visual expression and gives a sense of her artistic process that incorporates music and dancing. She has a BFA in Art Therapy and Studio Art from Millikan University.
