From the Director
Welcome to the University of Connecticut Torrington—UConn’s arts and humanities campus. Here, you will find small classes and faculty dedicated to your success. The smallest of the University’s regional campuses, we take pride in our faculty-to-student interactions, our accessible student services, and our caring campus community.
But don’t let the small size of our campus fool you. Here, you can take classes with expert faculty, as well as with faculty who work in the community. You can—as part of our growing service learning initiative—become actively involved in the local community, and apply classroom learning to the world around you.
Through the programs of our renowned Litchfield County Writers Project, you have the opportunity to hear, study, and learn from a wide array of writers who call Litchfield County—a region with perhaps the highest concentration of professionals in the country—home.
While many of our students begin their study at Torrington—moving to the main campus at Storrs at the appropriate time (usually after the first two years)—an increasing number of students remain and complete one of our undergraduate degree options, offered in partnership with the Greater Hartford and Waterbury campuses, (American Studies, Business and Technology, English, General Studies, Human Development and Family Studies, Psychology, Urban and Community Studies).
If you need any help during your time here, or wish to share an idea, or simply want to say hello, please feel free to stop by—my door is always open.
