What is a TigerStripe Account? - The Account is a record of pre-deposited funds accessed by the Cardholder for the purchase of products and services. There is no daily limit on the number of purchases that may be made and debited; however, no debits or charges shall exceed the amount of deposited funds. No interest shall be paid on any balance in the Account.
- The Cardholder understands and agrees that the Account shall not be used as a credit card or to obtain cash advances.
- The Cardholder understands and agrees that the Account is non-transferable.
The Tiger 1 Card becomes your personal debit card or declining-balance card when you open a TigerStripe Account. The TigerStripe Account allows you to draw upon pre-deposited funds for the purchase of products and services throughout campus.
To make a purchase, simply present your Tiger 1 Card wherever the Tiger 1 Card is accepted and the amount of your purchase will be deducted from your account. Account balance information is provided after each transaction, or you may request a printout from the Tiger 1 Card Office at anytime. There are no monthly fees or interest charges like a checking or credit card account. More importantly, your funds roll over from semester to semester.
To open a TigerStripe account, simply choose the optional fees menu when paying tuition through
tigerweb.clemson.edu or come directly to the Tiger 1 Card office to deposit money directly into your TigerStripe account. This option is only available prior to the semester starting.
The Tiger 1 Card Office accepts cash, checks, money orders, credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, and Discover). Upon receipt, deposits are immediately made available for use.
The Tiger 1 Card Office now has Value Transfer Stations (VTS) available for added convenience. VTS allows you to deposit cash directly into your TigerStripe account for immediate use. VTS machines are currently available in the Cooper Library, Loggia and Hendrix Center.
The University reserves the right to make appropriate adjustments or corrections to the amounts assigned to your TigerStripe Account. Any such adjustments will be fully documented and will be disclosed to you should you inquire about either your account balance or account transactions. Such inquiries need to be made in person at the Tiger 1 Card Office, 104 Fike Recreation Center.
It is your responsibility to keep track of your spending when using your TigerStripe Account. Your remaining TigerStripe Account balance is displayed following each transaction at all locations where TigerStripe is accepted (except vending machine card readers). If you attempt to make a purchase and there is not sufficient balance in your TigerStripe Account, the transaction should not be approved. However, should the occasion arise when, due to system problems or otherwise, a purchase occurs with insufficient funds in your Tiger Stripe Account (creating a "shortage" or "negative" amount), you will be billed for such negative amount and agree to pay such amount promptly. Alternatively, you also agree that the University may offset such negative amounts against funds that may thereafter be deposited by you to your account.
Purchases using your Tiger 1 Card are like cash and, as such, cannot be disputed in the same manner as credit or charge card transactions. If you have a question about a particular transaction, e will provide you with whatever information we may have regarding the matter. Any disputes about the nature or quality of goods or services purchased with the card need to be resolved by you with the establishment or sales location involved.
