The University of Idaho offers Master's and PhD's in Soil Science with concentrations in soil fertility, soil physics, soil chemistry, soil morphology and genesis, soil biology, and soil biochemistry. Numerous interdisciplinary programs involving soil are also available in the
Department of Environmental Science. For all programs, considerable emphasis is on related disciplines, including physics, chemistry, geology, hydrology, and biochemistry.   
Graduate Catalog   

An undergraduate degree in soil science is designed to prepare students for a variety of professional careers including (a) environmental issues such as water quality, waste management, environmental cleanup, and soil conservation, (b) efficient food and fiber production, and (c) land resource allocation and management in various ecosystems. Graduates are prepared for employment by agencies and companies such as agricultural consulting firms, farm chemical manufacturers and dealers, state and federal land and water resource organizations, waste management consulting firms, or graduate school.
