Platform Magazine, an online magazine produced by and for students and educators, provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information that encourages the ethical practice and enhancement of leadership in the field of public relations.
Platform is based at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. It started with a charge from The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations, which paved the way for a special section of our PR campaigns course. Students were competitively selected for a spot in the class, and nine students were chosen. The course began in January 2007, and consisted of creating an online magazine for PR from the ground up. Under the instruction of Dr. Meg Lamme, Mrs. Susan Daria and Mrs. Tracy Sims, the Platformteam chose the publication name, determined its purpose, wrote the first issue’s content and designed the layout of the site.
The Plank Center features Platform articles throughout the year. Here are some of the Center’s favorites:
“Everyone wants to be told a story,” Rick Looser, president and COO of The Cirlot (See-low) Agency said. The Cirlot Agency is a multimillion-dollar, international marketing, public relations and corporate communications firm headquartered in Jackson, Miss.
