The Schreyer Honors College
The Schreyer Honors College is Penn State's university-wide Honors program for academically superior students. It is designed to challenge talented students, to enrich and broaden their general education, and to prepare them for graduate study or for a profession.
Eligibility and Retention Criteria
Prospective Penn State freshmen with exceptional high school records, SAT scores, and other evidence of intellectual commitment and distinction are invited to apply for admission to the Schreyer Honors College. Students with superior records may also request applications by calling 814-863-2635.
Applicants will be asked to submit high school transcripts, letters of recommendation, an essay, and other materials.
Once admitted, Schreyer Scholars must maintain a grade point average of 3.33 each semester and successfully complete at least three Honors courses for a minimum of seven Honors credits per academic year. Scholars must submit an Annual Academic Plan and successfully complete an Honors thesis.
Recognition
Upon completion of program requirements, Schreyer Scholars are awarded a Penn State Honors Degree.
