A panoramic view of the Tillamook State Forest
The Oregon Department of Forestry allows firewood cutting (for a fee) on state forestlands managed by the following districts. Contact the office for the area in which you are interested.

Astoria  (Astoria)
Coos (Coos Bay)
Forest Grove  (Forest Grove)
North Cascade  (Lyons, east of Salem)
Tillamook  (Tillamook)
West Oregon  (Philomath)

Remember to check weather conditions prior to leaving home for mountain areas. Always tell a family member where you are going and when you expect to return. Go prepared by carrying rainwear, warm clothes, and extra food and water.

Firewood cutting also is permitted on other public forestlands. Contact the U.S. Forest Service or the Bureau of Land Management  for more information.
