This is the first time I write in this site. It's wonderful when I saw this site. There are many materials to studying English. I can learn many things from this site include grammar, listening, speaking v.v., and it's very very important for me. In addition, I can see many people all around the world, I speak with them by English and write by English. So, I think that my English will be improved and I can make friends with everybody from all over the world. Thank to this site I hope I can get 6.0 marks in the IELTS exam. I am very grateful those who made this site. I hope everybody will help me in next time.

Hello rihanna!
The difficult new book is the correct one. We usually put opinion adjectives (difficult) in front of describing (new) adjectives. You can find more information about adjective order on our adjective order page.
Hope that helps! Jeremy Bee The Learn English Team

thanks for response Adam. my question is: When I asking, when I should use do, and when I should use are like: Do you want to drink? or are you want to drink? Are you sure? or do you sure? Is there a rule? what is it? thanks a lot...
Submitted by Stephen Jones on 17 January, 2012 - 15:13. United Kingdom (Great Britain)
Hi Kendi, I'll try to answer your question, because 'do' and 'are' cause problems for students everywhere I have taught! Can you see a pattern in your two examples? Do you want a drink? - want is a verb, and needs 'Do' to help it make a question. So, we would also say things like:
Do you like football?
Do you have the time?
Whereas, 'Are you sure?' - sure is an adjective, and so we use the verb 'to be' to make a question. So, we would say things like:
Are you happy?
Are you tired?
That's a very quick summary of the rules, and as always, there are probably exceptions, but I hope that helps. For more practice, take a look at our pages on Question forms and . Stephen Jones The LearnEnglish Team

Hello maryam, Well, that's the difficult part of learning any language! Memorising prepositions and other areas of English is difficult unless you practice. I always encourage my students to read as much as possible, especially materials produced in English-speaking countries (newspapers, magazines, books, anything!). Then you'll have a chance to see prepositions and other important areas of the language in use. For stronger learners, I would recommend looking at our Stories and Poems - they are right here in LearnEnglish! Good luck! Stephen Jones The LearnEnglish Team

Hi, Two and a half months isn't a lot of time, but it's great that you've still got the books and the CD. You've probably forgotten most of the answers after 2 years, so I would suggest doing some of the practise tests right now. Try to do them under exam conditions - the same time limits, no dictionaries etc. Once you have done this, you should have a clearer idea of how much progress you need to make and what areas you need to work on. Do as many practise exams as you can and use them to identify where you need to study. To improve your speaking and writing, it's best if you can find an exerienced IELTS tutor. If not, try to find someone who can judge what your strengths and weaknesses are in these areas. Good luck! Adam The LearnEnglish Team
