how we make adverbials
An adverbial can be an adverb:
He spoke angrily.
They live here.
We will be back soon.
or an adverb with a quantifier:
He spoke really angrily.
They live just here.
We will go quite soon.
We will go as soon as possible.
or a phrase with a preposition:
He spoke in an angry voice.
They live in London.
We will go in a few minutes.

When I will use past simple and past perfect
Hello Dipankar,
Just type ' past simple and past perfect' in the search box at the top-right of most pages on LearnEnglish and you will see our pages about them. The first match is probably the most useful to summarise when we use the past simple and past perfect.

the first thing police did were was to retrieve the cctv footage from the parking place. Is it a correct sentences?
Hi dipankar!
It's nearly correct, but you have to decide between was and were (be verb forms). 'First thing' is singular, so you need was. We have pages about the grammar of be as well as information about plural and singular - check them out for more!
Hello,
Can we say(they just live here)??and whats the difference between this sentence and the *they live just here*.
With my regards
Hello shaxo,
There is actually quite an important difference. The first example, They just live here means that they don't do anything else in that place. The second, They live just here, would be used to indicate where a house is.
