To signup for wired network services or change existing services, use the Network Request Form. Please allow at least 24 hours for your request to be processed.
ITS provides switched 10/100/1000BaseT network ports for network devices at no cost. Network ports for bandwidth needs beyond 1000BaseT (gigabit), may be available at an additional cost. Additional network equipment that imposes significant costs may be wholly or partially charged back to the requesting group. Configuration of special network requirements will be made at the discretion of ITS.
In cooperation with CITES, ITS has been working to make the UIUCnet, UIpublicWiFi and UIwpa2 wireless networks available inside the Beckman Institute. We are pleased to announce that these wireless services will be available starting Monday, Aug 17th . Please let the ITS Help Desk know if you have any questions about using these exciting new services. The old BiNet wireless will be retired at that time.
For instructions for connecting to UIUCnet and UIwpa2 please see:

Virtual Private Networking (VPN) creates a secure connection between computers and/or networks. Using VPN is particularly important for wireless users. Wireless network traffic is inherently insecure and can be intercepted by other wireless users. Using VPN will secure your wireless transmissions and provide secure access to all network services not available through basic BInet. VPN should always be used if you are working with sensitive data. Wireless or off-campus users may find that certain resources are not available to them unless they install the VPN client.
For more information or to download the VPN client, see the CITES VPN page.
ITS is in the process of updating DNS domain names within the Beckman Institute from <group>.uiuc.edu to <group>.beckman.illinois.edu.
For more information see the DNS Rename Project page.
Your primary contact for network questions or problems should be your group's system administrator(s). Contact them first if you have problems. However, if you cannot contact your system administrator(s), call or email the ITS Help Desk. When you report a problem, please give your name, a phone number where you can be reached, the location of the system and/or problem, and a brief description of the problem. If you can provide IP addresses and/or machine names, this will help speed resolving the problem. During non-University business times, CCSO Network Operations Center(NOC) may be contacted via telephone at 4-1000 or if possible, via e-mail at noc@illinois.edu. They will take steps to contact ITS staff to resolve the problem. Note: Coverage other than 8:30am - 12:00 noon and 1:00pm - 5:00pm Monday through Friday is not guaranteed at this time.
