Nichi Witayanonaketavee, a Georgia College & State University senior majoring in marketing, is one of 15 students nationwide to have been offered the prestigious Vance L. Stickell Memorial Student Internship by the American Advertising Federation.

The internship, which includes a $5,500 scholarship, will take place this summer. It was established in 1989 in honor of Vance L. Stickell, the former executive vice president, marketing, for the Los Angeles Times who pioneered industry-wide improvements that have had a lasting impact in the advertising community. He served as chairman of American Advertising Federation and is a member of the Advertising Hall of Fame.

Witayanonaketavee, an international student from Thailand, was nominated by The J. Whitney Bunting School of Business AAF chapter, and Dr. Joe Schwartz, assistant professor in the Department of Information Systems and Communications, and chapter advisor. She is the second student from GCSU to be selected for this coveted award within the past two years. Alexander Brown received the award in 2004 and interned with The Houston Chronicle. AAF is currently matching this year’s 15 students with host companies that will provide the best fit for their talents and will notify the students on March 24.

Some of the host companies last year were The Wall Street Journal, Toyota, 7-Eleven, Newsday, McCann Erickson, DDB New York, The Los Angeles Times, and Heil-Brice Retail Advertising.
