Four writers were chosen as finalists:

• Kerry Leamon, an English major with a concentration in creative writing of Dacula, Ga;

• Rylee Edgar, an English major with a concentration in creative writing of Perry, Ga;

• Brittney Jones, an English major with a concentration in creative writing of Hephzibah, Ga; and

Interim President Dr. Stas Preczewski will announce the winner during a public ceremony and reception at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 in the Pat Peterson Museum Education Room.

The award was established in 2010 in memory of Margaret Harvin Wilson, ’34. During 1933 the English major entered a writing contest and won first prize for her short story, “Sympathy Speaks.”

This writing award is designed to inspire students to explore new worlds — grounded but imaginative and creative.
