During spring 2013, Georgia College junior José Ibarra served as a student tour guide at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta for the “Frida & Diego: Passion, Politics and Painting” exhibition — the only time the work of these iconic Mexican painters has been featured together at a major museum in the Southeast.
Celebrating 'Made in America' spring concert
Celebrate “Made in America” as Georgia College’s combined choral and music ensembles present their annual fundraising spring concert.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Russell Auditorium on the campus of Georgia College.
The concert features the Jazz Band, Max Noah Singers, Georgia College Orchestra, University Chorus, Georgia College Wind Ensemble and the Women’s Ensemble.
The musicians will perform selections by American composers George Gershwin, Burt Bacharach and Hal David with a gala finale by all performers of “America, The Beautiful,” by Samuel Augustus Ward and arranged by Carmen Dragon.
As an added feature students conductors will lead three of the choral selections: Kristen Whitworth will lead the Women’s Ensemble in “Omnia Sol (Let Your Heart be Staid);” Erica Wright will lead the Max Noah Singers in “Earth Song;” and Lauren Harbor will lead University Chorus in “Laudate Dominum.”
Admission is $10. Proceeds benefit music scholarships.
